Our lead therapist has a lifetime of experience and is passionate about helping individuals, couples, and families to thrive.
Garey has trained in:
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT): recognised as being helpful for depression and anxiety
Narrative Therapy: effective in working with issues such as anger, rejection, sexual addiction
Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT): effective in helping couples develop and improve their relationships
Providing supervision to those in helping professions such as church workers and pastors
Garey has experience working in a pastoral setting for 20+ years. He also is a provisional member of NZAC (NZ Association of Counsellors) and member of NZCEFT (NZ Community of Emotional Focused Therapists)
Qualifications: BComm, BTheol, BCounselling, Cert Supervision, Cert Domestic Violence, Cert Tertiary Teaching, Emotionally Focused Therapy EFT (Externship Level), Gottman Couples Therapy Level 1, Provisional Member of NZAC. Trained at Auckland University, Manukau Institute of Technology & Bethlehem Tertiary Institute.
How many sessions do I need?
The number of counselling sessions will be dependent on many things, including, the nature of the issue and the level of the effect of the issue on the individual person. After the first visit your counsellor will be able to give you an idea of the number of sessions that will be required in a more detailed way.
How long do sessions take?
Individual sessions are generally 1 hour long.
How much does counselling cost?
Notice of change or cancellation of appointment is necessary and appreciated. Your time slot is reserved exclusively for you, so please arrive promptly to obtain your full session. If you are unable to attend an appointment, a 36-hour cancellation notice is required so that someone else may be given that time slot. Half the fee is payable if you cancel within the 36 hour period. If you must cancel or reschedule due to an emergency, please notify us as soon as possible.
